New baby in family.........

Yesterday my sister's baby girl had her first baby. Weighing in at 6.1 lbs, little Nick JR. came into this world with an additude. He's a beautiful baby, but aren't they all . (well to their family they are anyway)
My baby is 29, but I can still remember the day he was born, it was a wonderful day. On that rainy day in October I had no idea just how much happiness that little baby would bring into my life. I remember being so scared and alone.Back then family wasn't allowed to be in the delivery room or even in the room while I waited to dilate enough. I had family there sitting out in the waiting room, playing cards! I have no doubt my husband would have been in the room with me had he been allowed.I had a wonderful nurse during delivery who held my hand and tried to comfort me.I squeezed her hand so tight she had finger nail marks on them, but she never took her hand away. After my son was born the first thing I recall saying to my husband was,"I'm sorry he was born on James' birthday" . James had been my first husband and I was so scared my son's dad would be upset that his son was born on that date.I know ,I know , crazy thought, hey I was given drugs lol.

A mother's fear.........

My son over slept on the train from Paris to Le Mans and awoke in Rennes. He was so tired, stressed and over whelmed it took a toll on his body and it shut down.He was in a city where he knew no one and wasn't sure where a hotel could be found. He called me and I felt so helpless! He only had a calling card with a few minutes on it and couldn't stay on long, so he hung up leaving me fearing for his safety.I said a small prayer and while waiting got online to see what this city was like.I discovered there was a hotel very near the train station. I prayed my son would find this hotel soon.At that very moment my phone rang, it was my son, he had found the hotel, thank God.
He was going to get some well deserved rest and start first thing the next morning going back to his destination,Le Mans.
The next day he called to let me know he was in Le Mans and in his apartment. He had bought some groceries and spoke with his landlord. He was going to walk around the city some to check things out and then settle in for the night. He said it finally hit him that he was all alone and far away from home and all the people who love him, when he got his things all unpacked. He has a week before school starts, so he'll have time to sight see and get use to the area some.I'm a thankful mom, that her son is safe after a slight scare,(for her) and about to begin another amazing adventure.

He's gone again............

My son left today for Le Mans, France and even after all the times he's gone abroad before, I still hurt when I left him at the airport, and yes there were a few tears.
He'll be gone for ten or eleven months and although I'll see him in December (when I go to visit) I'll miss him terribly! He'll be teaching English to students at the university and making a difference in lives.I'm so very proud of him and all his accomplishments.

I have decided to do volunteer work for United Way to keep busy and to improve myself and my life.
I have been thinking of doing volunteer work for some time and after inquiring about it, I received a packet of information this week.I am excited about several opportunities offered and have a meeting on Saturday to check out a possible choice.

Amazing sights....

This past weekend I had the priviledge to tag along with my son to move one of his friends to Pittsfield,Massachusetts. We left on Thursday, drove to Fayetteville,Ar. picked up Aure'lie and conitinued on. We made it to St.Louis in time to see the arch (mine & Aure'lie's first time) before it became dark.
The trip allowed me to see states I had never seen, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts.I fell in love with Wheeling ,West Virginia and the entire area of Pennsylvania we drove through.
While we were in Ohio my son checked out the Ohio State Unversity, which is one of the colleges he's considering attending for his PHD. Another is Penn State, and we drove around the campus while in Pennsylvania also.
We drove over 3000 miles in four days and saw beautiful country, had good coverstions and several good laughs.Four days in a vehicle, tired, sleepy and sometimes hungry (I'l know to take snacks the next time ,lol) , it was a time of making memories I'll always charish.
