The Big Race...

Over 42,000 women, including my sister and myself(our first time),moved through the streets of downtown Little Rock today for the 2006 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. This year a new record was set, surpassing the goal of 40,000 participants. The 5k run/walk(I walked)started at 3rd and Broadway, continuing over the Broadway Bridge into North Little Rock, then wound back through downtown Little Rock. The Peabody Hotel rolled out the pink carpet for the 'Special Pink Duck Walk' at the hotel. The race did not go by the hotel so I only heard about the ducks, did not see them, but I'm sure they were cute. The great thing is that 75% of the funds raised will stay in Arkansas for breast cancer treatment and research. This was one of the most amazing events I've ever taken part in and I will walk again. We were told 5k is almost 3.2 miles, and my legs said they were correct! The race wrapped up with the 'Survivor Parade' down Broadway, a heart warming sight to say the least.
